Historical Village
On Sunday K and the kids went to a historical village that is about 10 minutes from here. They were having a chicken show of historical breeds and K had a conversation with one of the folks from the Poultry Fancier’s Association. He was quite excited as we apparently now have the largest flock of Buff Brahma chickens in the region. He wants to come by in the fall and look at our chicks (which will be young adults by then) and he encouraged K to allow him to vaccinate them so that they can go to shows.
Aside from the chicken show, there was a horse pulling demonstration and a heritage garden.
K also checked out the wall paper in the century home that was on site so that when we start to renovate some parts of our house, we can make it look more true to it’s age/period. One of the things that is fun about going to places like this is that the houses on display are often not as old as our house. It makes me laugh every time that K says something like, “Pffrt, our house is older than this one.”
I stayed home and worked on the fence. It’s not fun trying to prime 60+ 8′ to 16′ long 2X6’s. On top of taking tons of time to get the lumber ready to put on the damn fence. I continue to have to patch it as the existing boards are old and the horses keep making parts of the fence fall over and/or break. In a few days, I will get the last of the boards primed and should be able to start putting them up soon. . .
