The wood was delivered on August 10th. I was told that they did not have any properly seasoned hard wood this year and that the wood we received was only cut in June… It looks like we may have a cold winter coming our way as wet wood does not burn as well or as hot as properly dried wood.
12 Cords of wood (piled two deep).
Working at blocking wood.
Blocking wood is fun!
More damn wood.
As it is not well dried, I spent all my time trying to block it up first. Usually, I break up the work between, blocking, splitting, tossing and stacking. This time, I blocked it all first and just threw it in a big pile to give the last of the summer/fall sun and wind the opportunity to dry it out some more. Wood dries fastest out of the cut ends.
I finished blocking it all up on Sept. 13, 2007. Here’s what the pile looks like now.

There I am in the pile
Victory!
Now all I have to do is throw it down the wood shoot, stack it in the basement (which is too low for me to walk in), split it, burn it!
