Why SPAM Network Appliances
should not reply to spammers

  • Joe Spammer sends an email to Jill.
  • Fucking Joe uses my email address as the return address (an extremely easy thing to fake).
  • Jill’s moronic network admin has his spam appliance configured to reply to the spammer with some sort of “no thank you” message. Idiot!

BUT!!

  • I am listed as the return contact.
  • Now repeat this scenario many, many, many more times.
  • My Unfortunate Little Server receives 12, 000 messages in one day! Over 20, 000 in four days!
  • Think people!!

    Unfortunately, aside from raising awareness, there is nothing I can do. This is a problem with how other people have their sites set up.
