Mouse!

By Gentleman Farmer at 11:34 am on November 6, 2009 | 3 Comments

Late last night around 11:00pm I’m startled from my important web surfing by “B” saying, “Mousie?”

Mouse!

Apparently, the “Barn Cats” were swatting around a cute little mouse. We quickly jumped up and saved it. I mean, we had to. It was the obvious thing to do. We couldn’t possibly let the sappy, spoiled (house) cats that we got to kill rodents in the barn kill a rodent in the house!

You haven’t lived until you grab a dust bunny from under your bed from the cat only to find it is not a dust bunny but a mouse that she had killed. I gingerly picked up the mouse with a napkin – now that I knew it was a dead mouse, I could not pick it up with the same hand I had grabbed it with before. A couple of days later, I was very happily watching TV when Rogue started making a lot of noise right next to me. I glanced down to find that she had found another mouse and because I wanted the last one, she thought I would like the pleasure of killing this one. One live mouse released outside later – we have agreed that any mice that come into the house belong to her.

A few weeks ago, our mouse trap half caught Mickey. I went downstairs to see him bouncing around. Rodney and I barked and squealed respectively and both of us ran up the stairs. Some Rat terrier, he is!!
Jerry, my hero, came in two minutes later and Bang Bang later. M. Mouse was in the green bin and both Rodney and I felt better.

See you need a cat! Not only does she kill the mice, she is willing to share – or not – as you prefer.
