Time for a wash?
Stepped outside this morning to grab a piece of wood from the pile that is still outside and should be in the basement and there were hundreds of birds in the tree over our deck and all the trees around our property.

Check out the video: Blackbirds
Thirteen cords of wood!
So far I have finished blocking it all. Here’s an “aerial” photograph:
Here’s a movie of me working on it:

We drove out to East Point. It is the eastern most tip of The Island.
Here it is:
There is a lighthouse there, of course:
We also have a “wind farm” out on that side of the island. There are about ten of these absolutely massive wind turbines in a neat row. There was a very light breeze and they were hardly moving when we first arrived. After a short while they all stopped completely, therefore we were not able to truly experience what it must be like to live right under these monstrosities.
The road is paved all the way to the end of Pantings Road (where the Pantings live and where Pantings Garage is). I drove down to the shore there yesterday. Here is your “30 second break”
We had some trouble with the “rig” (everything that moves is called a “rig” out here). There were some cooling pipes that run to heat the back of the van and they rusted out. Apparently, it was a huge job to change them and the van spent the whole day at the garage.
I had some time to kill, so I took a walk down the road to sit in a quiet corner of that famous Scottish restaurant with the giant yellow “M” out in front. Along the way, I took a few pictures:
Sophie and Oopsie (the horses) were having a very spectacular romp today with lots of bucking, snorting, and running around the paddock. I went outside to film them and they stopped and watched me…
The chickens, who get lots of table scraps tossed out for them, all ran over in the hopes that this was what I was doing outside. So I filmed them instead. This is what it is like to have completely tame chickens:
Appleby, the “blue” (grey) bird that arrives first is the most tame these days and therefore the most spoiled.
Strippy, his brother arrives soon after in the hopes of also getting a treat. They are both quickly followed by Alowishus. . .
Here are some stills of the 3 brothers:

I was on my way in from the barn this morning and I was struck by how wonderful, warm and inviting our house looks in the winter with the smoke rising from the chimney on a chilly winter morning.
I grabbed the video camera and filmed a “30 Second Break.” If you watch the video, crank the volume up really loud (this isn’t a joke to trick you – I don’t yell anything embarrassing to get you in trouble at the office at the end. I promise.). I’m struck by the silence of where we live. It’s 10:00 in the morning and I am standing 70 feet from the Trans Canada Highway.

Sophie spent the whole time I was filming the above watching me curiously. So I filmed a bit of the barn and horses also. Here’s the part where Sophie comes to the fence to say hello, beg for a treat and then demands one (by kicking the fence). Eventually, when she realises that I have nothing good to eat, she goes back to join Hilly and Oopsie at breakfast.
When I was growing up, there was a cable TV channel that played a fireplace 24 hours a day. Here is my tribute:
